What is the best way to repair a roof?

The most important thing about maintaining a roof isn’t necessarily what it looks like—it’s how well it works. For starters, keeping your roof in good shape is one of those things you probably don’t think much about, but it does make a difference. You might even say that a roof is the heart of your home. If yours is damaged, you won’t feel comfortable inside because the temperature and humidity levels are different, and you could end up with leaks or mold problems.

Roofs are prone to wear and tear over time, and while some damage is normal, there are many things you can do to prevent major issues. If you see cracks or holes in the shingles, call Sterling Roofing for help. We offer free estimates, and we will work within your budget.

WATERPROOFING

Waterproofing is the first step in repairing a roof. Waterproofing is the best way to fix the issue if you have a leaky roof. There are many different types of waterproofing materials out there, some of them being asphalt shingles, tar paper, fiberglass, and rubberized membranes. Asphalt shingles are the most popular type of roofing material due to their affordability and durability. However, they do not last forever and need to be replaced periodically. Tar paper is a cheap alternative to asphalt shingles; however, it does not last long either. Fiberglass is an excellent option if you want something durable and affordable. Rubberized membrane roofs are a newer type of roofing material that is becoming increasingly popular. These roofs are made of a thin rubber layer covering the entire roof surface. They are highly durable and resistant to water damage.

PATCHING

After waterproofing, patching is the second step in repairing a roof, and it is done after any major leaks have been fixed. Patching involves applying a small amount of sealer over the area where the leak occurred. Sealers prevent further moisture penetration and allow the roof to dry faster. Once the roof dries completely, a new roofing material should be installed.

RE-ROOFING

If you notice that your roof is seriously damaged, you must re-roof your home. There are many different types of roofs out there, including asphalt, metal, tile, slate, concrete, and wood. Each type of roof requires a specific method of repair. For example, if you have a flat roof, then you would need to replace the old tiles with new ones. However, if you have a pitched roof, you just need to patch the existing tiles.

GUTTERS & DOWNSPOUTS

Gutters and downspouts are two parts of your roof system that collect rainwater and direct it away from your house. If you notice that these components are leaking, then you should fix them right away. You can either replace them entirely or simply repair them.

CHIMNEY REPAIR

Chimneys are vents located at the top of your roof. These vents allow smoke and gases to escape from inside your home. If you notice that your chimney is damaged, you should call a professional repair company to assist you.
